Pope Residence
This expansive backyard lot, though challenged by a steep slope and a thick canopy of Oak & Maple trees, proved to be an opportunity rather than a constraint. Embracing its narrow shape, we crafted a design that seamlessly blends coziness on a quiet Tuesday evening with functionality for lively Friday night gatherings. At the heart of the landscape, a water feature delicately carved into the slope sets a serene ambiance, inviting moments of tranquility and relaxation. The deck, with its sweeping curve and absence of railings, beckons guests from the house towards the outdoor dining area, encouraging seamless flow and connection with nature. Utilizing the spoils from the exposed aggregate patio, we fashioned two raised annual beds bordered with cobble, adorned with an array of stonecrop sedum varieties. Serving as the formal entry to this outdoor haven, the Arbor gracefully guides guests from the front parking area under an elegant arch, positioned at a 45-degree angle to the house. Along a gentle, meandering curve of Colorado red flagstone, the journey culminates in the back, where the true essence of outdoor living awaits.
